| Data collection info | Data is collected from hydrometric stations that measure water level (stage). This measured water level is used to calculate discharge (the volume of water flowing past at a particular time). In-person discharge measurements are used to verify the stage-discharge relationship. |
| Data processing | Real time water stage data is subject to preliminary correction to compensate for manual stage measurements, as well as potential instrument drift using Aquarius. Stage data that appears suspect or is impacted by ice within the winter is marked as "Estimated". Ice impacted data is removed from discharge curves. Initial data quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) is conducted in-house by the Elk River Alliance. Further preliminary review of hydrometric data was conducted by MacHydro. Data are finalized once a year, at which time corrections are confirmed and data are uploaded to the WaterHUB. |
