This dataset contains the openly accesible data for the FIMP survey carried out in Lake Winniped in 2012. The study purpose was to collect baseline information on the current uses of Lake Winnipeg’s south basin shoreline using foreshore inventory and mapping (FIM) criteria established for similar studies in British Colombia. The FIM uses maps and GIS tools to describe the shoreline in segments, 50 of which were defined along the 299 km stretch from Traverse Bay on the east shore to near Riverton on the west shore (Appendix 2 ) Information gathered includes; shore type, substrates, adjacent land uses and shoreline modifications. When possible this information has been combined with other mapping data from Manitoba government sources.

This dataset cointains the openly accesible data and reports for the FIMP survey carried out in 2009 in Monroe Lake. The shoreline of Monroe Lake provides residents and tourists with excellent opportunities to live and recreate in a rural setting. Monroe Lake is a smaller (54 hectare) lake, with one cluster of development. The lake has a very productive wetland in the northern region, consisting of sedges, willows, and floating vegetation (pond lilies). The lake is mostly surrounded by coniferous forests of varying structural stages due to recent forest fire events. The natural forest areas around the lake are recovering from the previous fire events.
