Data collection info | A levelogger is located within a stilling well at the pedestrian bridge across the road from Nelson's Farmers Supply. The Barologger is located outdoors at KEI's office, contained within a heat shield in the shade. KEI's office is 1.5km from the station. Flow measurements are conducted using the mid-section (i.e. wading) method at low flows and the salt dilution method at high flows. |
Data processing | Stage data is processed by subtracting the barometric kPa data from the Levelogger's absolute pressure (kPa) data to calculate the differential pressure in kPa. The differential kPa data is then converted to meters of water and offset to match staff gauge readings. The staff gauge height is confirmed with benchmark surveys as per the BC Hydrometric RISC standard requirements. The continuous discharge data is calculated using a compound stage-discharge relationship (SDR) developed using onsite flow measurements and computed in Fathom Scientific's Salt Portal software. The average deviation the flow measurements have from the SDR is 6.5%. |
