Preliminary Hydrometric (2022-10-19 to 2023-07-04) Gray Creek
Download: llc_mckgra01h_hydrometric_20221019_20230704_prelim.xlsx
Gray Creek was selected for monitoring as it supports multiple water users and improves geographic distribution and coverage of the East Shore of Kootenay Lake. The data is being collected to track the impacts of climate change on Columbia Basin water supply and support community climate adaptation. Monitoring has been implemented on this site.

Data collection info | Data is collected from hydrometric stations that measure water level (stage). For stream sites, this measured water level is used to calculate discharge (the volume of water flowing past at a particular time). Water temperature is also collected at these permanent hydrometric stations. |
Data processing | Real time water stage data is subject to preliminary correction to compensate for manual stage measurements, as well as potential instrument drift. Stage data that appears suspect or is impacted by ice within the winter is also removed. Data is finalized once a year, at which time corrections are confirmed and additional corrections (such as data filling and smoothing) may be applied. |
