Lower Apex Creek Hydrometric (LCKAPX01H)

This dataset contains hydrometric data for Lower Apex Creek. This site is part of the Columbia Basin Water Monitoring Framework program (CBWMF). The CBWMF is a coordinated monitoring network that tracks how climate change and other impacts are affecting water supply for communities and ecosystems across the Canadian Columbia Basin region. Apex Creek was recommended for monitoring through the 2023 CBWMF Data Gap Analysis of the Lower-Columbia Kootenay Hydrologic Region. It is identified as habitat for fish and species at risk. This stream is a tributary to the Apex Wetlands and Salmo River. Monitoring at this site increases the coverage of the "High elevation, cold forested watersheds with a high snow fraction" (Group LCK 3A) which the 2023 CBWMD Data Gap Analysis of the Lower Columbia-Kootenay Hydrologic Region identified as underrepresented in the pre-existing monitoring network. This Lower station is paired with a Upper station (LCKAPX02H), to understand better understand this watershed's dynamics and hydrologic response to climate impacts.
