This report provides an integration and initial review of data associated with the North Kootenay Lake Water Monitoring Project (NKLWMP), which later became known as Kootenay Watershed Science (KWS). This community-driven watershed monitoring program was designed to build knowledge that helps keep our communities safe and sustainable in a changing climate. These monitoring sites continue to operate as part of the Columbia Basin Water Monitoring Framework (CBWMF). The CBWMF is a coordinated monitoring network that tracks how climate change and other impacts are affecting water supply for communities and ecosystems across the Canadian Columbia Basin region.

Data collection info | Data are collected using seven hydrometric stations, two snow courses and three meteorological climate stations installed at various locations around the north end of Kootenay Lake. The hydrometric program includes continuous monitoring of water quantity at seven hydrometric stations. The snow and climate program includes monitoring of snow accumulation at two high-elevation snow courses and air temperature and rainfall at three climate stations. |
