Collaborative Watershed Governance - Lessons Learned from Lake Windermere
Download: lwa_gardnerpeloso_report_lessonslearnedlakewindermere_2017.pdf
This report tells the story of how the Lake Windermere Ambassadors (LWA) have built a role for community in local water management and how experience is steering them towards a watershed-wide mandate. The report shares some of the challenges and successes experienced by the LWA in its seven-year history so that others may benefit from the lessons learned. For the people of the Lake Windermere area and the upper Columbia River Basin, this record explains the unique niche of the LWA and describes what the organization is working towards, providing a platform for ongoing collaboration. For the province of BC and those further afield, the report contributes to the legacy of analyses by POLIS, Living Lakes Canada, the Columbia Basin Watershed Network, and others that aim to understand the evolving role of community in local water management.
